it is urgent to complete the road network of the new Cattolica production area • newsrimini.it

the Cattolica production area

The management of CNA Cattolica and San Giovanni in Marignano expresses concern over the failure to complete the road system of service of the new settlement in the industrial area of Cattolica. Already last March the association had urged the administrations to find quick solutions for the construction of the connection between via Mercadante and via N. Rota.

As far as we know – we read in a note – the process for the expropriation of the land intended for the construction of the road is still in an embryonic stage. Despite this, however, some companies seem to have already settled in and heavy traffic in the area has increased significantly“. “We consider the development of the Cattolica production area an important resource for our city both in economic terms and in terms of jobs – continues CNA -. However, we are also strongly convinced that a settlement of almost one hundred thousand square meters requires the construction of a new road connecting to the existing area, as already provided for in the provincial program agreement. We have kept our attention high on this matter for many years and we are well aware of how the problem arose in 2019 when, with a variation to the detailed plan of Via Luciona and Toscanini, the Municipality of Cattolica decided to significantly reduce the road network connecting the artisan areas of Cattolica and San Giovanni. We acknowledge the technical offices of the Municipality for having subsequently reintroduced the connecting roundabout within the agreement but at present, with the settlement practically completed, the definitive project does not yet exist. Indeed, the process for the expropriation of the land intended for the construction of the road is still in its initial phase“. According to the association “in a context of already critical traffic, the new settlement will further burden traffic on Mercadante, Respighi, Rota, Toscanini and Luciona streets. Without the construction of the new roundabout the situation will become unsustainable. Traffic in the area, especially heavy traffic, is destined to increase significantly with serious repercussions on safety and the fluidity of circulation. We are already seeing this in recent days with the significant increase in heavy vehicles that have started circulating daily in the area for a couple of weeks. Our businesses are rightly very worried“. The hope therefore is that “land the Administrations involved, also through possible involvement of the Province, quickly find a solution that guarantees the creation of the new road in compliance with the commitments undertaken with the program agreement” concludes the board.
