Since the early hours of this morning, a team of specialized workers from an external company has been pruning the trees in some areas of Aci Catena, clearing and weeding a vast area between Via Riggio and Ceuta, bordering the municipality of Aci Castle. The work planned by the Maintenance area manager, Nello Fichera, should not last for more than seven days. In any case, the municipal administration ensures that the traffic in the area affected by the reclamation will not be hindered or affected.
“For a few weeks now we have been focused on how to stem the problems linked to fires – explains the mayor Margherita Ferro – and we have already started a working table with associations, offices and volunteers to carry out prevention works and organize the rescue machine We are now focusing our attention on all those areas that are vulnerable and potentially susceptible to fire carrying out pruning on approximately 12 tall trees, reed thickets and risk areas, in compliance with the anti-fire ordinance which this year we have issued well in advance of previous years. To this end, I once again invite land owners agricultural areas and areas with vegetation to ensure the cleaning of the spaces”.
