It makes its world premiere from 3 to 5 May at the Teatro Lo Spazio, KIOTO ZHANG’S DAUGHTERthe new show written and directed by Massimo Odierna, which returns to investigate the human miseries and anxieties of our times with exasperated characters and paradoxical situations.
Thomas is an irascible boy, he is 35 years old and lives day by day, meeting women and drinking rivers of alcohol. One evening, during one of his dates, you are approached by Libero, a fragile and scared boy, his former adventure companion during his scout days. Libero begs Thomas to help him find the sweet Noa, a bizarre girl of Vietnamese origin who he fell in love with but whose traces have been lost. Initially Thomas will push Libero away considering the request for help absurd, subsequently Thomas himself will exploit this story to win back Amèlie, his ex-girlfriend, a girl who loves to “practice kindness” by empathizing with the weakest and dressing as a superhero to save the world. The lives of these three protagonists will converge in the search for the missing young girl, this undertaking will unleash a domino effect of extravagant events and bizarre encounters, in a human vortex that oscillates between nihilism and randomness, alienation and tenderness.
The show received the jury’s special mention for the original idea at the InDivenire 2023 Festival.
