After the success abroad, Elvis The Musical finally returns to Italy, the acclaimed show, directed and written by Maurizio Colombi, which debuted in 2017, on the fortieth anniversary of the death of Elvis Presley, which occurred on 16 August 1977, and immediately won over both the King of Rock’s most avid fans and musical and theater enthusiasts.

The show will close the season of the Teatro Comunale di Cormons with a full house (sold out event) as a regional exclusive on Thursday 9 May, at 9pm.

The direction and concept are by Maurizio Colombi, director of great successes such as Peter Pan, Rapunzel, The Ice Queen, the musical direction is by Davide Magnabosco and the choreography is by Rita Pivano. Elvis Presley he is the figure of modern music who has most profoundly marked the art, music and style of every subsequent era. There is not a singer among all the music stars from the 1950s onwards who was not inspired or indirectly influenced by what is universally recognized as the King of Rock’n’Roll.

On stage, Presley’s story will be carried forward by three figures, Elvis as a child (Teresa Morici, formerly Rapunzel as a child), Manuel Di Santo, as a young Elvis, and the artist after 68, the last Elvis, played by Ivan De Carlo, the new extraordinary discovery by Maurizio Colombi.

The cast consists of 21 artists, including a 4-piece band.

In just under 2 hours, the tribute musical retraces Elvis’ biography, through a historical period of over four generations from the 50s to the 70s, with immortal songs such as Jailhouse Rock, It’s now or never, Suspicious Mind, My Way, That’s all right mama, Always on my mind and many others that are always current and alive in the common memory, among original photos and videos of the time.

Maurizio Colombi declares himself very satisfied with the resumption of the show: “After the closure of the pandemic, it is important to return to the theater, even with shows like these, which bring together different generations and make the audience dance in the room. The success of the film which has just been released in theaters is clear testimony to this.” Elvis the Musical is a fast-paced and rhythmic show, dedicated to Presley’s unforgettable successes from the 1950s until 1977, when the legend passed away. The show, through Elvis’ songs and the stories of various characters who lived around him, reveals the background of a life dedicated to music and sacrificed to show business.

If the show unfolds through a historical period of over four generations up to the 70s, the most significant for music, at the end of the show the audience, in all the theaters where the show was held, always stands up to dance to the rhythm of the reconstruction on the scene of the 1968 TV Special. The strength of the live music is enthralling and transforms the musical into a real concert, which will transport the audience directly to the end of the wonderful ’60s.

The scenography, by Alessandro Chiti, immersive and material, is enriched by videos that allow us to retrace, as if it were current, the unique experience of the human tragedy and the irrepressible success experienced by the greatest star of all time, the King of Rock ‘n’Roll Elvis Presley.

Elvis the Musical, in fact, tells the tale of a boy who becomes king, even if it is a tale with a sad ending, perhaps because it bears witness to a real, albeit incredible, life.

A story that becomes tragedy, to become myth and relived every evening at the theater.
