Last April 12, 2024, in the Aula Magna of the “G. Verga”, an interesting meeting was held on the issues of legality.

The pupils of the secondary school of the “L. Capuana” have, in fact, met the Carabinieri of the Radiomobile Operations Unit. The meeting was held by Captain Francesco Severo accompanied by Lieutenant Carmelo Mucella.

Many issues were addressed, all of great interest to the young students: bullying, respect for the rules, respect for the road code and incorrect driving behaviour, drugs.

Captain Severo began the meeting by talking about the Constitution, the law on which our state is founded. He explained that it, which came into force in 1948, is the basis of all laws.

In particular, the Captain commented on articles 1, 2 and 3, highlighting that all citizens are equal before the law and that respect for the laws is fundamental to guarantee a more just society.

In fact, Captain Severo underlined the importance of respecting the laws not for fear of being punished but in a conscious way, so that society can function with respect for everyone.

One of the topics discussed during the meeting, which most interested the students, was the topic of bullying. Unfortunately, there are many young people who are victims of this phenomenon, and it is therefore important to know it well in order to be able to face it and counteract it.

Captain Severo showed the kids the “Bullizzometro”, a sort of colorful meter which, through a gradual progression of colors from green to bright red, serves to detect signs of bullying and cyberbullying. This tool, made available by the Carabinieri, allows you to understand if you are a victim of bullying and contains advice for asking for support and help based on the level of violence: from parents and teachers for less complex situations (such as humiliation ) to 114 child emergency for the most serious cases (for example threats and harassment, including online) and directly to the police for serious situations, such as assaults.

After Captain Severo’s presentation, a debate followed in which the students asked various questions.

At the end of the meeting the students had the opportunity to see one of the Carabinieri’s “gazelles” live, a brand new Alfa Romeo Giulia.

The experience lived by the students proved to be interesting and enriching because it allowed them to delve deeper into important issues of great interest and to learn about the important role that the Carabinieri plays in our communities.
