abnormal heat and strong wind, boom in fires in Sicily

Several fires broke out today in Palermo and in the province. In the capital the firefighters were busy in Brancaccio, in the Chiazzese courtyard. Flames in Bolognetta, Corleone, Borgetto and Partinico. At Palazzo Adriano a fire occurred in a hardware and paint shop in via Antonino Cassarà. The firefighters also intervened in Termini Imerese after a lighting pole fell on a parked car. There are no injuries. Due to the strong sirocco wind, temperatures exceeded +28°C in many places in Tyrrhenian Sicily between Palermo and Messina.

For tomorrow the regional civil protection has issued a yellow alert for bad weather. Rain is expected in several provinces in the region.
