An inmate attacked an officer with a series of elbows in Bancali prison, sending him to the hospital. It’s yet another one testimony of violence reported by Antonio Cannasnational delegate for Sardinia of the Autonomous Penitentiary Police Union.

“Last night, a North African prisoner who was stationed in the stairs of the prison section refused to return to his cell at the calls of the duty officer and instead hit him with a series of violent elbows in the face. The colleague then went to the infirmary and then sent to hospital. They were moments of very high tension” he explained.

He also intervened in the case Donato Capecegeneral secretary of Sappe.

“The violence and tension experienced by the policemen on duty in the Bancali prison in Sassari are very serious. It is unacceptable that a Penitentiary Police officer should risk his own safety every day and be subject to aggression and violence just because he represents the State. The appeal is made to the leaders of the Dap to create the conditions to restore order and security, truly implementing that zero tolerance towards those violent prisoners”.
