A virtual beauty coach that helps the user improve their health, while offering discounts and promotions on some products after overcoming a series of challenges. It’s the design idea with which Lorenzo Nicoteraa 21-year-old from Aosta, together with six other young people – four Italians, an Englishman and a Dutchwoman – won in recent days at Amsterdam the European Hackaton promoted by the multinational As Watson which operates in the field of health and beauty products.
Graduated in Computer Science and Telecommunications, Lorenzo has been studying at the University for two years 42 Rome Luissa school for programmers and it was there that he learned about the possibility of taking part in the initiative.
Hackathons are marathons of two or more days in which young programmers and developers up to 30 years of age are involved in the design and development of some business solutions launched by a company. The competition ends with the awarding of the winning idea. However, for the company the hackathon is also an opportunity to select future employees.
In Amsterdam on the weekend of April 13th there were 70 young computer scientists divided into 15 teams. The idea of Lorenzo and his team was the one most appreciated by the company, which awarded them the first prize, consisting of a week to spend in June in Hong Kong.
“It will be a pleasure trip – explains Lorenzo – but it will also be an opportunity to finalize the project idea developed in Amsterdam. The selection by the company will also continue in these days. We have already received links to apply for a job, but in my case I currently prefer to finish my studies and then apply. I certainly wouldn’t mind being able to work abroad for large companies in the future.”
