Milva, the Red. Milva the Panther by Goro. While many can boast the title of “divas”, few can claim to have remained so forever. With her unmistakable red hair, her warm and very particular voice and a unique personality, Milva managed to enter the hearts of Italians and make herself known for who she truly was: an unforgettable artist, an eternal diva.

Three years after her death on 23 April 2021 after a long illness at the age of 81, Milva, diva forever, directed by Angelo Longoni, produced by Elide Melli for Cosmo P. Eu in collaboration with Rai Documentari, in broadcast on Friday 3 May in prime time on Rai3, reconstructs Milva’s life and career, to understand the cultural evolution of Italy from the 1950s to the new millennium.

An emotional, introspective portrait emerges, at times light and carefree, at times dramatic, constructed through the testimonies of his daughter Martina Corgnati, of her last life partner Massimo Gallerani and the precious archive material relating to her live performances and contributions of those who knew and loved her as an artist. Among these, Theodorakis, Vangelis, Enzo Jannacci, Franco Battiato, Astor Piazzolla and Alda Merini, Iva Zanicchi and Gigliola Cinquetti, some journalists and writers, but also herself, with excerpts from the countless interviews given during her long career.

With Milva, diva forever, Rai Documentari returns the artistic depth and the most intimate profile of an extraordinary singer who has forever marked the history of Italian music, to remember and raise awareness of the priceless cultural and human heritage that she left us.

Milva’s is the story of a provincial girl who, after achieving great popular success, transformed herself into a refined interpreter of memorable performances in the most important repertoire of Brecht and Weiss, acclaimed in the most prestigious theatres, at ease in the Tango of Astor Piazzolla as in the musical by Garinei and Giovannini.
