On Thursday 2 May at 6pm at the Barontini social centre, the Sarzana si Pu association is organizing the meeting entitled “The snow of Mariupol” with direct testimonies on the war in Ukraine. The initiative concerns the difficult conditions faced by civilians by giving voice to direct witnesses and refugees.
The center of the initiative will be the presentation of the novel-reportage “The snow of Mariupol” by Monica Perosino, journalist and war correspondent for the newspaper La Stampa of Turin. Since 2013, Perosino has mainly covered Central and Eastern Europe and the Nordic countries. As a correspondent, she has covered issues related to human rights, especially in Poland, Hungary and the Balkans, and she was in Ukraine at the outbreak of the war, which she testified to in her novel-truth.
The photojournalist Ciro Cortellessa will also participate in the meeting, who will exhibit his photos and talk about his experience in the theater of war. A delegation of Ukrainian refugees will be present, of which there are more than 200 in the province of La Spezia alone, who will give direct testimonies on the personal affairs of their families who remained in Ukraine.
