Another disappointment for Palermo who loses at home against Reggiana. A team, the visiting team, in the midst of a results crisis and which conceded four goals at home against Cosenza in the last round of the championship. It has now become a mirage for Palermo to win in front of their fans, the last success in fact dates back to 17 February.
Not even the Mignani treatment seems to have given a decisive shock to the whole environment. After the three draws in a row, much more was expected from the Sicilian team, especially in terms of psychological stability. The approach to the match did not bode well, it was soft and incapable of finding good game patterns, only two great saves from Pigliacelli avoided the worst. Then the sudden flash in the 35th minute, captain Brunori pulls a pearl out of the hat and gives Risa the lead. But it is only the illusion that it could have been a festive afternoon. In the second half the usual Palermo suffered the offensive gusts of the guests who first equalized with Portanova on a free kick from the edge and then found the advantage with Rozzio, guiltily left alone in the area. The usual mistakes, the inability to manage the result and increase it.
After having made a comeback, Mignani tries to shake up the team by introducing Filippo Ranocchia (returning to the field after a long absence) and then a whole series of other offensive changes, practically a white-weapon assault with a front-wheel drive formation but which did not produce any concrete results. Just a lot of confusion.
In light of the latest results, yes Palermo is firmly in the play-off zone, almost presumably they will arrive in sixth place, but the team’s situation, especially the mental stability, does not give us hope for anything good for these play-offs.
