Olive oil sales amounted to 110.47 million liters in the first six months of the current campaign (October to March), a decrease of 17.51% compared to the previous seasonaccording to the oil industry association Anierac.
The highest sales figure corresponds to extra virgin olive oil, with 45.57 million liters accumulated, although it decreased by 20.61% compared to the same period last year.
“Sweet” olive oil follows with 37.67 million liters, 18.41% less than the first half of the previous season.
“Intense” olive oil recorded 13.94 million liters, a decrease of 15%; cumulative sales of “virgin” olive oil amounted to 13.94 million liters, a slight decrease of 4.66%.
Olive pomace oil sales amounted to 14.3 million liters and grew by 72.7% in the first six months of the current campaign.
Olive oil sales in 2024
In the first quarter of 2024, olive oil sales stood at 55.21 million liters (-8.27%); “extra virgin” at 23.80 million liters (-9.87%); the “sweet” at 18.42 million liters (-4.45%); the “intense” at 6.26 million (-19.96%) and the “virgin” at 6.72 million liters (+0.78%).
According to Anierec, pomace oil sales increased 111% in the first quarter of 2024reaching 8 million litres.
Within the different categories of olive oil, the highest sales figure in March was that of “extra virgin”, with 7.32 million liters, followed by “sweet”, with 5 million liters, and from “virgin” and “intense”, with 2 and 1.89 million liters respectively.
