Staranzano is preparing to welcome the second edition of the Water Festival, which returns from Thursday 16th to Sunday 19th May offering many events including talks, musical and theatrical moments, workshops, exhibitions and spaces reserved for the little ones. The presentation of the event took place this morning in Delbianco Room in the presence of mayor Riccardo Marchesanof the creator of the Festival Roberto Covazof the program coordinator Roberta Sodomaco and the researcher and educational coordinator, Francesco Scarel. Also present in the room were regional councilor Diego Moretti hey mayoral candidates Marco Fragiacomo and Giuliano Venudo.

This edition of the event will also “shed light” on every declination that blue gold takes on which quenches thirst, refreshes and nourishes men and the whole Earth. During the events, man’s “confidences” with water will also be revealed. A free and happy resource, but which can also be dangerous if not respected. “We prepared a more ambitious and powerful program than that of the first edition – explains the coordinator, Sodomaco – deeming it necessary to raise the bar to make the event rich and evocative».

On May 16th, we will start with the first appointments at 3pm and 4.30pm in the Delbianco room where, at 6pm, the conference “Water: a civil commitment” will take place, while at 9pm, the exhibition “Risorgiva – Ecosistemi in extinction”. Among the important events, the meeting “Building river contracts. Reflections, paths and practices”. Recalling the preciousness of water in the past, Covaz spoke of the ability to «recreating communities around water». «A program will be offered that also looks beyond Staranzano – adds the creator – which will act as a magnet for those who want to be part of it by coming here».

As mentioned, water has multiple declinations: historical, scientific, environmental, geopolitical and artistic. It will be discovered through what Sodomachus defined as a «contamination of scientific and multidisciplinary languages». For example, all this will happen with the “Mare Mostrum” workshops on the recycling of plastic materials, “Water for peace” which will propose collective writing to reflect on those who do not have access to water and “There is no water to lose!”, a playful opportunity to learn virtuous water saving behaviours. There is also space for street theater in the library garden with the “Sentimental Oceanographic Workshop”.

It’s a show of spatulas, wheels and waves for seven travelers in the caravan. There will be no shortage of naturalistic visits such as “Discovering the Lido” scheduled for 10am on Saturday 18 May. On the last day of the festival, at 10am, there will be a guided tour of the Sacchetti water pump and the digital land reclamation museum. In the afternoon, at 5.30pm, an appointment with the author and voice of the Rai Radio 2 Caterpillar program, Massimo Cirri who will talk about “History, geography and technical applications of M’illumino di meno”.

Grand finale, at 8pm, at the Teatro Comunale of Gradisca d’Isonzo with the show “The other world, small stories of change” taken from the book of the same name by Fabio Deotto. At this morning’s press conference, the head of the Municipality’s Culture Office Stefano Olivo defined this edition as “comprehensive and important”, describing the Staranzano community as a witness to the meeting between fresh, brackish and salt waters. Mayor Riccardo Marchesan said the initiative was “relevant and qualifying”. Interspersing the various interventions were readings by the actress Luisa Vermiglio and musical moments proposed by the cello player Massimo Favento.
