Toremar, the seafarers expressed their concern to Mazzeo: “Positive meeting”

From Filt-Cgil province of Livorno

A delegation of Toremar workers met the president of the regional council Antonio Mazzeo to express great concern to him in relation to their working future. The meeting took place this morning on board the Stelio Montomoli ferry headed from Portoferraio to Piombino. The general secretary of Filt-Cgil province of Livorno Giuseppe Gucciardo and the ferry commander Andrea Cerase also participated in the discussion.

Seafarers fear that the new tender for the territorial continuity of the Tuscan Archipelago could cause a reduction in personnel and a cut in services to citizens, with evident negative consequences for social balance and the territory. A scenario that should absolutely be avoided.

There was a frank discussion and a fruitful exchange of opinions with Mazzeo. The president of the regional council showed sincere interest in the workers’ observations and fears, proving himself available for other meetings to further explore the issue.
