Collapse of neighborhoods

Fear in the heart of the Spanish Quarter, at the Gradini San Matteo in Toledo. Shortly after 6.00 pm on April 27, the external facade of a building collapsed. Following the collapse, a gas pipe would also have been severed which would have caused a leak which was immediately stopped by the firefighters who responded to the scene, who also made the area safe.

20 families evacuated, residing in two buildings. Evaluations are also underway regarding the possible eviction of the buildings adjacent to the one where the collapse occurred. There are no injuries. Also present at the Gradini San Matteo were the carabinieri, police and municipal police.

The dismay of tourists and residents

“We heard a roar and we ran down from the building. We were scared”, some residents confided to us. “We were returning to the bed and breakfast where we had been staying for two days, right where the collapse occurred, and here we are, we can’t even go back to our rooms to take what we had left”, three tourists explain to NapoliToday.
