In Monfalcone in Fiore, which continues until tomorrow, Sunday 28 April, in Piazza della Repubblica, piazza Unità, via Battisti and piazza Cavour from 9am to 8pm, the Environment and Balcony Awards were awarded today (Saturday 27 April) in the Loggia of the Town Hall Flowery.
The Councilor for Environmental Sustainability, Sabina Cauci awarded the Citizen who has distinguished himself for concrete actions for the protection and safeguarding of the environment with the Environment Award by the Department for Environmental Sustainability: Renato Antonini, for having contributed to the clean-up of the Karst from alianthus, an infested plant.
Following this, the Councilor for Culture, Commerce and Territorial Marketing, Luca Fasan and Argea Luciani on behalf of Flash srl and AssoFiorItalia, co-organizers of the event, presented the Balcone Fiorito Award.
“The aim of the Award – it was recalled during the ceremony – is to make the city more beautiful, more beautiful to live in, a space in which to feel good. The flowers, trees and plants not only give colour, but contribute to the daily well-being. Taking care of one’s environment makes everyone’s life better. The city becomes more attractive and capable of giving a sense of active participation to the community”.
The winner of the 2024 Balcone Fiorito Award is: Annalisa Pediroda.
In the gardens and balconies section of Monfalcone the following received the certificate of participation: Mariarita Capasso, Viviana Conventi and Francesco Fiori, Nevia Geronazzo on behalf of Martina Mazzarella, Mariagrazia Mazzara, Fabio Mutton, Eleonora Romano and Valentina Portolan, who will collect the certificate in the next days.
A special mention goes to Graziella Boscarol and Fulvio Babich for the flowered balcony and orchids.
Particular thanks were expressed to those who, despite not living in Monfalcone, wanted to participate out of competition, testifying to their love for the world of flowers and plants and enthusiasm for the Monfalcone in fiore event.
The following received the certificate: Oriana Delicati, Fortunata Frazzetto and Ivana Toniutto.
The winner of the 2024 Fiorito Award for the most original flower display case is: Pacor Ottico. Michela Brumat Pacor accepted the award, explaining how the giant handmade crêpe paper flowers featured in the shop windows were created.
Still regarding the “flowering” shops, Elisabetta Dejust collected the certificate of participation for the Dejust Pelletterie shop.
Until tomorrow, the center of Monfalcone will present itself as a flower garden thanks to “Monfalcone in fiore”, the event organized in collaboration with Flash Srl and AssofiorItalia, with which Monfalcone is dressed in flowers and colours.
Piazza della Repubblica, Piazza Unità, Via Battisti and Piazza Cavour will be colorful with the many stands offering flowers, plants and objects for the beautification and care of gardens and balconies.
Also in this edition there are many new features of the market exhibition dedicated to the horticultural sector.
Fruit trees and plants – green and flowering – for the vegetable garden and to furnish the house and garden, balcony or terrace, organic farming products and special fertilizers; but also bamboo fiber scarves and vases and ornaments for the garden; the flowers – seasonal symbol par excellence -, but also everything that is spring will be the absolute protagonists of the long-awaited event which coincides with the blossoming of the flowering season and transforms, once again, the center into a large, splendid flower garden.
The exhibitors, coming from different Italian regions, will give life to the market exhibition which with plants, flowers and objects aims to confirm itself also in this edition as an event awaited and appreciated by the citizens, but also by the numerous expected tourists and gardening enthusiasts who come every year attracted to the city by the initiative: succulent plants, fruit trees, aromatic plants and many other innovations in the sector can be admired during the days of the event, open from 9.00 to 20.00, in Piazza della Repubblica, Piazza Unità, Via Battisti and Piazza Cavour in Monfalcone, in a choreographic setting of flowerbeds and gardens which will be a further opportunity for the city to enhance and attract tourists, also encouraging the activity of the nearby shops and businesses in the area.
This year too it was in fact the contest, the awards ceremony of which took place today, which – in collaboration with AssofiorItalia – involved merchants, invited to give color to their shop windows by setting them up on a theme to participate in the competition that designated the most beautiful shop window .
The competition was also dedicated to the most beautiful decorations of balconies, windows and gardens. Participation was free and open to anyone who wanted to send an image of their flowered balcony, terrace or home window to the email address [email protected].
The shots were evaluated by a commission of horticultural experts, who chose the winners and rewarded them with plants and flowers offered by AssofiorItalia exhibitors.
During the event, thanks to the collaboration with the AssofiorItalia association – which brings together nurserymen from all Italian regions – numerous experts in the sector are available to the public to offer advice and information on succulents, fruit plants and Mediterranean plants, to satisfy all curiosities about the care of greenery and the protection of nature.
