Professional boxing returns to Palermo and among the key matches – event organized by Alessandro Cherchi’s Opi Since 82, Salvo Scalici’s Sices Cdia and Christian Vitale’s Cf management – there is great attention for Gloria Peritore who will wear gloves to challenge the Serbian Tijana Drakovic.
Peritore, former world kickboxing champion – she won Oktagon three consecutive times, the first Italian woman to win Bellator – is currently a professional boxer, her debut took place in 2023 at the Milan Boxing Night on March 24th, winning unanimously against Chiara Insarrualde.
For Gloria it is also a return home, to her land: Sicily. Originally from Licata, she then moved to Florence, where she made her debut as a professional in kickboxing, while she now resides in Rome and in the capital she is also involved in social work with her organization The Shadow Project – which she takes around Italy – spreading the values of combat sports and promotes female empowerment and with the project against violence against women: FightTheViolence.
Everything is ready for great boxing at the Palazzetto del Cus, where Peritore Vs Tijana Drakovic will compete in eight rounds in bantamweight. “I care a lot about this match, not only because it marks a return as a sportswoman to my island but also because a possible victory would be a good omen towards my race for the title” – comments Gloria Peritore.
It doesn’t end here: Cus will be the setting for the match valid for the vacant Italian super-lightweight title between Armando Casamonica and Gianluca Picardi.
Casamonica, known as “The Fury of the Square”, after having won the title of IBS youth super-lightweight world champion, is now aiming for the Italian title to be won against a very complicated opponent like Picardi, a left-hander from Casoria who with 13 victories, only 2 defeats in ‘active and the IBF Mediterranean Title already on the board, he arrives in Palermo with the desire to confirm himself at the top of the category.
