First they would have taken away his cell phone, then tied it to his wrists and beaten him for hours, even with stones and sticks, and then abandoned his body, disfigured and unrecognizable, in a layby. A real revenge, because the man, according to the rules of the group of drug dealers, had betrayed them by robbing them of a batch of drugs and 30 thousand euros, with the probable intention of “starting his own business”. The Novara prosecutor’s office requested 5 indictments to conclude the investigation into drug dealing in the woods between Novarese and the Malpensa area, a world of illegality into which the dead man escaped on 6 May 2022, in the municipality of Pombia: after the eight plea deals for the defendants who were only accused of drug sales, now the prosecutor is asking for the trial for the five homeless North Africans, some of whom are even untraceable, accused of the crime of torture which resulted in the killing of a twenty-four year old Moroccan resident in the Milan area. The preliminary hearing is set for the end of May.
Based on what emerged at the conclusion of the investigations, the body was found at dawn on 7 May 2022 in a layby on state road 336 in the municipality of Lonate Pozzolo. An appeal had been launched in the provinces between Piedmont and Lombardy, looking for people who could provide some information. He had several tattoos, on his limbs, abdomen and back. The drug trail had been pursued from the beginning. A few weeks later the father showed up and the victim was identified. Thanks to observation services, interceptions and testimonies, the Varese police had verified that the young man was dealing in the woods of Pombia, Oleggio and Marano Ticino. Precisely in that area he was tortured by the other members of his gang for the alleged theft of drugs. And, while they were abusing him, some of the group, including the leader’s partner (who later fled abroad), had called the boy’s father to tell them what was happening. The man, to free his son, had made himself available to recover the necessary amount. He had asked for more time, but the young man’s death occurred before he could recover the sum. The body was then transported from the Novara woods and abandoned in Lonate.
According to the autopsy, the 24-year-old had died of cardiorespiratory arrest due to severe head trauma and a series of other blows.
