The dog of Matteo Cornacchia, the worker who died crushed by a metal plate in the Brescia area, is looking for a home. At the moment he is staying with a family in the province of Bergamo, but it could only be a temporary arrangement.

Matteo Cornacchia, the worker died in an accident at work on Tuesday 24 April in the Brescia area, he left his dog alone. His name is Willy and it’s a 14 year old mixed breed, all of whom passed by the side of his master who is no longer with us today. Volunteers and friends of the man have posted appeals on Facebook looking for a new home for Willy. Currently, he has found a temporary accommodation in a family in the province of Bergamo.
Matteo’s tragic death: his dog was waiting for him at home
Matteo Cornacchia47 years old from Brescia, died two days ago, crushed by a metal plate while he was at work. He was an animal lover and a volunteer who mainly dealt with the recovery of abandoned animals. And he had a dog too: Willy, a 14-year-old mixed breed who was more black than white and who lived in symbiosis with his owner. We don’t know if animals understand the concept of death, but they certainly understand that of loyalty. Indeed, Willy waited in vain for two days the return of his master who, however, never returned.
“A love story that lasted 14 years. Willy doesn’t know that you will never return home, Willy is there waiting for you forever. He wags his tail with sad eyes full of hope in your return, Willy who doesn’t know wickedness doesn’t know how cruel fate can be and take away from you the most beautiful thing you can have: such a great love”, we read in a post from a friend of Cornacchia, who adds: “The least we can do for those who have dedicated their life to abused and abandoned creatures is to find Willy a home“.

Willy’s social appeal and temporary accommodation
Active animal lovers on Facebook and Matteo Cornacchia’s friends and acquaintances immediately took action to spread the news of Willy’s adoption. Unfortunately, as we know, elderly dogs like him, who is 14 years old, are always the most difficult to manage and want to take into the home. But, perhaps, Cornacchia’s dog has made it, at least for the moment.
He is with a family in the province of Bergamo and Cristina Picinali, a friend of the deceased worker, is taking care of the adoption. In his latest post of Facebook showed Willy in a garden: “I made sure Willy was well and went to be at his best… so as not to leave him alone. I entrusted it to an extraordinary person with a beautiful house and a huge garden who has a lot of time to dedicate to it and loves his big dog like Matteo loved Willy”. Unfortunately it is not yet certain that this is the dog’s definitive placement: “If all goes well it becomes an adoption of the heart otherwise it will will host while waiting to find him a permanent family.” He also added that he will do everything to ensure that Willy is well and does not end up in a kennel.
