The new “Carlo Riva” port of Rapallo has been inaugurated

RAPALLO (ITALPRESS) – “Seeing this port completely rebuilt today is not like seeing it a few years ago, when we were here in the aftermath of that terrible storm at the end of October 2018. Today we have not only inaugurated a port, we have not only strengthened the a tourist region, which has the ambition of being the most powerful in Italy, but we have also created the conditions for thousands of jobs, which will continue to be created in cascades, allowing many young people and many women to be able to build their own future in Liguria. All this has been possible thanks to a healthy relationship between the public administration and private individuals who have had the courage to invest: what entrepreneurs must know is that those who come to risk and invest in this region do not remain alone and will always have a public administration at its side that will protect its investment, because the well-being of many of our citizens depends on that investment.”

Thus the president of the Liguria Region Giovanni Toti, who spoke at the inauguration of the new “Carlo Riva” port of Rapallo, which had been destroyed by the storm in October 2018. Present at the event, among others, also the president of the Senate Ignazio La Russa, the mayors of Rapallo and Milan, the mayor of the Metropolitan City, the regional councilor for Infrastructure Giacomo Giampedrone and Davide Bizzi, CEO of Bizzi & Partners and Argo. “After that terrible storm – recalls the Councilor for Infrastructure of the Liguria Region – we invested more than 10 million euros to make the area safe, to clean the seabed, remove the debris and the boats that had sunk. All preparatory works for the reconstruction of the new infrastructure that we see today: without those interventions it would not have been possible to achieve this extraordinary result. As a Region, we also intervened again in the environmental authorization phase with respect to this important private investment”. “The reopening of the port of Rapallo, the most important in the Tigullio – adds the regional councilor for Tourism Augusto Sartori – will have a great and positive tourist value for the whole territory and, at the same time, it also has a great symbolic value after the storm of 2018 which had devastated it. Today we inaugurate a better ‘Carlo Riva’ than the previous one: being also councilor for Labor I am even happier because this new and more modern tourist port will also have a substantial impact from an employment point of view considering the numerous activities businesses present within it”. The port is able to accommodate boats up to 60 meters and has over 250 berths. photo: Liguria Region press office (ITALPRESS). tvi/com 26-Apr-24 18:45 .
