Udine – The collection of signatures against the project to expand the connecting route has met with considerable success Sequals in Gemonaas emerged from the feasibility study called “Variante quattro venti”.
According to the newspaper “Il Messaggero Veneto” around three thousand people participated in the popular mobilization.
Already from the morning of Thursday 25 April to Fagagna (Ud) at theQuadris Oasisa long orderly queue of people had formed waiting to sign the petition.
The popular initiative was promoted by the municipalities of Fagagna and Moruzzo with the support of numerous local associations.
Among the reasons for opposition to the project, the high environmental and landscape value of the territory between Moruzzo, Fagagna and Colloredo di Monte Albano which – according to the municipalities and associations – risks being forever compromised by the construction of the connecting link between the Cimpello-Sequals road and the Gemonese area.
The connection, according to the words of the Regional Councilor for Infrastructure and Territory, would involve the construction of a road measuring 3.75 meters per lane plus 1.50 meters of shoulder for a total of 10.50 meters for the road plus all the completion works and more the works to guarantee local roads.
The collection of signatures continues over the weekend at La Brunelde and Casa Asquini (Fagagna) on the occasion of the opening for the Historic Houses event.
It will also be possible to sign in Moruzzo on Sunday 29 April at the Four Winds fountain.
The councilor’s response
For his part, the councilor, in a press release, states that “the extension of the stretch from Sequals to Gemona is based on a specific study and in comparison with the territories involved, as is normal for the case, it is revealing in some cases great approval, in others it is bringing out some critical issues”
Situations, the councilor assured, that the Region will try to resolve with subsequent in-depth analysis through constructive dialogue with the local communities. Only when every critical issue has been overcome – claims the councilor – will we continue with the design phases of the work, which remains an axis of fundamental importance in the East-West connection between the territories of Pordenone and Udine.
