PORDENONE – Come to life poetic spring of pordenonelegge with the poster of Poetry Tuesdaythe monthly thematic meetings promoted by Pordenonelegge.it Foundation and cared for by Roberto Cescon, who just in recent days has entered the dozen of the Strega Poetry Award, and from Alessandro Canzian by Samuele Editore, partner for the poetic publications of the Gialla and Gialla Oro series. Appointment on Tuesday 7 May, as always at 6pm in the historic center of Pordenone, at Palazzo Badini, operational headquarters of the Foundation. We start with the meeting and dialogue with the poet Claudio Damiani, winner of the 2022 Viareggio Rèpaci Prize for the collection “Prima di nascere”. The event will be coordinated by the poet and teacher Ilaria Pacelliauthor of “The Word in the Dark” (LietoColle, 2020), member of the since 2012 Pordenone Poetry Community. “The poet questioned” is the common thread of the meeting, which is part of the event format curated by the Community: a team of enthusiasts who promote their meetings by asking the protagonists about the forms and reasons of their poetry, to fuel a profitable interaction with the poetic choices of the group.
Damiani’s naive and “creature-like” poetry, which addresses the great themes of life with extreme simplicity. A simplicity that arises, especially in the initial phase of production in open contrast with contemporary poetryperceived as too intellectualistic. Joyful poetry, for that joy that comes from the immediacy of vision and perceptionlike a Pascoli boy without the density of the symbolism of the poet from Romagna. Poetry which, at the same time, is clearly still and frontal with respect to the tragedy of existence. Claudio Damiani’s latest book, “Postomerica” (Amos 2024 editions), “it’s the same old story. Of Achilles’ weapons that sank to the bottom of the sea. Of the war dead who don’t know how and when the war will end. Of the singing of cicadas and the crying of men. Of the morning breeze or the choppy sea in front of the silence of a run-down house. This book is written by a poet and a painter. It can only talk about the only thing that really matters: the eternity of life”. At the end of the dialogue, the poets Daniele Berto and Maria Luisa Calabretto will read their verses. Claudio Damiani, born in 1957, was born in San Giovanni Rotondo and lives in Rignano Flaminio, near Rome. His first book of poetry, Fraturnois from 1987. Several poetic collections follow, including Heroes (2000, Montale Prize), Around the fire (2006, Luzi Prize), Dreaming of Li Po (2008, Lerici-Pea Award) Endymion (2019, Carducci Prize). He published for Fazi Editore Poems (2010), The FIG on the fortress (2012), Heavenly skies (2016) e Before being born (2022) with which he won the Viareggio Prize.
Daniele Berto was born in Treviso in 1983. He graduated in Physiotherapy in Padua and in Literature at Ca’ Foscari with a thesis on the poetry of Mario Luzi focusing on the work Terrestrial and Celestial Journey by Simone Martini. You subsequently obtained a Master’s degree in Philosophical Counseling and Existential Anthropology at the European University of Rome where you explored the relationship between language and chronic pain. At the moment she is completing her Master’s degree in Modern Linguistics and works as a physiotherapist in Trieste and teaching assistant at the Alma Mater Europaea University of Koper and the La Sapienza University of Rome. She writes verses.
Maria Luisa Calabretto, born in Pordenone in 1955, lives in Pordenone. After completing high school, you obtained a degree in Biological Sciences (1979) and subsequently in Pharmacy (1991) at the University of Padua. As a Biologist, she worked in the Hospital in Pordenone, Pathological Anatomy, dealing with Diagnostic Cytology and Andrology, concluding the work phase in 2021. She is part of the Cultural Association “La digitali” and of the Pordenone Poetry Community. She follows poetry and literature courses and workshops online with Feltrinelli, La Scuola di Publishing, Centro Scrizioni, La Bottega di Narrazione. As an ISDE (International Society of Doctors for the Environment) member, you participate in related research activities on environmental pollution and the resulting damage to health. You volunteer at the Food and Pharmaceutical Bank of Azzano She likes traveling and practicing outdoor sports.
