OPPIDO LUCANO (POTENZA) – Yet another tragedy at work this morning, Tuesday 24 April. The tragedy occurred in Basilicata, in the Potenza area. A worker has tragically died after falling from scaffolding on the construction site of a church under construction in the town of Oppido Lucano, in the province of Potenza. The victim is Donato De Luca, a 56-year-old worker.
According to an initial reconstruction of the facts, the worker was busy on the scaffolding surrounding the structure and he apparently lost his balance and suddenly fell, crashing to the ground in the underlying, fenced-in part of the construction site. It is hypothesized that, due to the strong wind that was blowing in the area today, the fifty-six-year-old was hit by a sheet of metal which would have made him unbalance.
The man made a flight of about three meters into space which was fatal. Medical aid was uselesswho rushed to the scene after a request for help from those present with an emergency call. 118 health workers intervened at the site of the tragedy who however could not do anything other than confirm the man’s deathwhich happened practically on the spot.
