LECCO – The events organized as part of the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the historic first ascent of the West wall of the Cerro Torre on the part of “City of Lecco” expedition of the 1974. The appointment is for Saturday 4 May where the protagonists will be i Grignetta spiderswith the conference kicking off at 9pm at theauditorium of the Chamber of Commerce (via Tonale 28/30) a Lecco.

The meeting, with free admission, will retrace the history of the greatest adventures of the partnership, highlighting the changes and evolutions of climbing in the mountains at the extreme south of the Andean cordillera from the exploratory times of the first ascent of the west face of Torre to today. During the appointment the journalist and writer Serafino Ripamonti will retrace the history of the Patagonian expeditions of the Ragni from the origins up to the seventies, while the new protagonists of the Ragni mountaineering (among others Giovanni Ongaro, Matteo Della Bordella, Luca Schiera, Matteo De Zaiacomo and Dimitri Anghileri) will talk about their Patagonia live.

Another appointment is for Friday 10 May at 5pmagain in Lecco, where the exhibition “Patagonia yesterday and today“, again curated by Ragni della Grignetta. The exhibition, which consists of twenty panels composed of short explanatory texts and large and evocative photographic images, will provide an overview of some of the most significant expeditions in which the Red Sweaters took part, from what they saw Carlo Mauri reach the top of Monte Sarmiento in 1956, on the route opened in alpine style on the east face of Cerro Torre from Matteo Della Bordella, David Bacci and Matteo De Zaiacomoin 2022. The exhibition, with free admission, will be open until Sunday 26 Maywith the following opening hours: closed Monday, Tuesday from 10am to 2pm, from Wednesday to Sunday from 10am to 6pm.

The celebrations for the 50th anniversary of the first ascent of the west face of Cerro Torre are organized by the consortium of local bodies and institutions led by the Comunità Montana Lario Orientale Valle San Martino as the lead body and made up of the Municipalities of Abbadia Lariana, Ballabio, Lecco and Mandello del Larioin collaboration with Confcommercio Lecco, Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Crafts and Agriculture Como – Lecco, Province of Lecco, CAI Lecco “Riccardo Cassin” section, Ragni della Grignetta Group, Lecchese Gamma Mountaineering Group, UOEI Lecco section and Riccardo Cassin Foundation.
