Amarey presents Arabica Oil
Descriptive text here

Amarey, specialized in the development of raw materials and products obtained from the entire coffee plant, presented on the occasion of Earth Day its innovative Arabica Oil, a functional ingredient derived from the by-products of the coffee supply chain and used in two finished products developed for illycaffè retail: soap and hand cream.

Born on the solid foundations of 90 years of research conducted by illycaffè, Amarey operates in the nutraceutical, cosmetic and fragrance sectors, while promoting circular economy principles. Through science and the exploration of the entire value chain, Amarey shows how coffee can become much more than a drink, introducing functional ingredients such as oil, butter, powder and Arabica flavor, all obtained from 100% Arabica coffee regenerated.

Arabica oil soap and hand cream
Produced in Italy with 100% circular methods, Amarey Arabica oil is a functional ingredient with a high concentration of essential fatty acids, diterpenes and sterols, which give it antioxidant properties, capable of protecting against DNA degradation.

Able to restore skin lipids, Arabica oil improves the epidermis and increases skin hydration, as well as promoting cell renewal; precisely because of these characteristics, Amarey has already chosen to use it in two finished products: soap and hand cream, designed to ensure hydration and nourishment in a fundamental daily moment such as cleansing.

The packaging of the two products also represents an innovation based on circularity: the bottles are made with a 100% biopolymer that can be composted at home. In fact, the material is naturally produced by bacteria through the fermentation of sugars or vegetable oils, creating a biocompatible solution with a chemical composition that maintains its performance.

To further strengthen the link with the principles of the regenerative economy, soap and hand cream were officially presented with an event in partnership with the Davide Longoni bakery, which espouses the same values and has created a selection of breads using Amarey ingredients.

The Amarey research
While more than 2 billion cups of coffee are consumed every day in the world, it is also true that only a part of the coffee cherry is used to produce the drink. Amarey works on the remainder, collaborating with the University of Coffee – the center of excellence created by illycaffè to promote and disseminate coffee culture throughout the world – to analyze the coffee production phases along the entire supply chain and identify any alternative transformations sustainability of this ingredient.

Applying the principles of the circular economy, Amarey studies how to convert elements that are currently discarded from the production process – such as green coffee powder, broken roasted beans, silverskin or coffee oil – into new by-products, because all still very rich in molecules that can be reused.

The goal is not only to pursue a regenerative model capable of redefining what we call coffee, but also to bear witness to collaboration, circularity, and innovation.

“We want to open new frontiers in the world of coffee and demonstrate the transformative power that this extraordinary plant can have – comments Andrea Dominique Illy, Co-founder and CEO of Amarey – We are excited to share our commitment to sustainability and innovation through products functional and solutions that redefine the concept of sustainability and health”.

“The collaboration with Amarey is a further step in our commitment to the application of responsible and sustainable principles – adds Cristina Scocchia, CEO of illycaffè – We are proud to be able to give, together, a second life to our raw materials, freeing all the unexpressed potential of a precious ingredient like coffee”.

Amarey soap and hand cream with Arabica oil are available in 500ml format at selected Illy stores and on amarey.it, at the price of €37 and €86 respectively.
