Yesterday evening at 7 pm, the long-awaited night lighting of the Carolingian Aqueduct was held in the square below the Ponti della Valle. Also present are the representatives of the territorial administrations, institutions and associations involved in the valorisation of Vanvitelli’s masterpiece, who will turn on the lights of the eighteenth-century monument.

The Royal Palace of Caserta, we remember, has taken steps to refunctionalize the system and to ensure, for the future, the inclusion of the lighting of the Ponti della Valle among its scheduled maintenance activities. The costs of electricity will, however, be the responsibility of the Municipality of Valle di Maddaloni.

The initiative is part of the project to enhance the monumental section of the Carolingian Aqueduct, in accordance with the provisions of the UNESCO Management Plan. Last March the first round table was held to put Luigi Vanvitelli’s hydraulic engineering masterpiece at the center of joint actions.

The Management of the Royal Palace of Caserta, managing body of Vanvitelli’s engineering work, has promoted the creation of an inter-institutional network that can work together with a view to medium and long-term planning for shared and coordinated activities.
