The national Favolosa oil community is born – TraniLive.it

For two days, 9 and 10 May, the event dedicated to the “Favolosa” extra virgin olive oil, also known as FS 17, will be held in Trani. This cultivar has already been present for more than twenty years in almost all areas Italians and has also risen to prominence for being a variety resistant to Xylella. The goal is to create a national community of Favolosa producers spread across the country.

During the event, which will take place in the shadow of the cathedral of San Nicola Pellegrino, we will discuss the value of the raw material, quality oil, the role of extraction technology and the profile of the consumer of Evo oil in the third millennium. Participating in the national conference will be olive producers, processors, technicians, experts from the National Academy of Olive and Oil, the University of Bari, the Irta of Catalonia, tasters and professionals from the food sector. The event also has the task of celebrating the memory of Giuseppe Fontanazza, the creator of the Favolosa cultivar. The event is organized by the Consorzio Oliveti d’Italia of Andria, with the support of the Puglia Region-Regional Department of Agriculture and the Municipality of Trani, and is part of the Puglia Region’s promotion program for the oil supply chain, which will culminate with the Evo Oil Fair.

The Consorzio Oliveti d’Italia is a consortium of farmers, oil mill cooperatives, producer associations and companies engaged in the production and promotion of consumption of quality EVO oil. It has 2,500 producers in a certified supply chain, 13,000 cultivated hectares, a 100% Italian oil storage and packaging center in Andria, the heart of the largest quality olive oil production district in the world (10,000 bottles 3,000 cans per hour).
