PD without leader. Minzolini: but what a challenge to Meloni, the post-Schlein era has already begun
Descriptive text here

Punctually, as is the tradition of Schlein’s Democratic Party, the counter-order arrived comrades: the name of the secretary will not be in the symbol of the Democratic Party. But as always happens when an attack is followed by a hasty retreat, the outcome of the defeat is serious. A real boomerang that affects the entire party: at this point the Democratic Party has neither the name of the leader in the symbol, nor even a leader. Indeed, if you want to split hairs, taking into account how things happened, it doesn’t even have the head of the other soul of the party, the Catholic-reformist one, given that Stefano Bonaccini, who was on paper, after having guaranteed the Schlein, who would have made his followers digest the name idea, was contested by the Catholic area and forced to reverse course. Therefore he too was delegitimized as the leader of the hypothetical internal opposition. A debacle that evokes a traumatic epilogue: the accidental secretary, who no one saw coming, really risks that no one will see her leave. In short, we are dealing with pure masochism, sorry to use an expression that has become fashionable on the left, with tactical tafazzism, from the name of the character played by the trio Aldo, Giovanni and Giacomo who loved to hit his zebedees with an empty plastic bottle for self-harm . Only on this occasion Tafazzi would have a female face. Oh yes because Schlein did everything herself.

Confused about her intention to present herself at the European elections as head of the list in all the constituencies, she invented the proposal of the name in the party symbol to reaffirm her leadership. A way to link one’s image to a realistic goal, that of bringing the Democratic Party back to 20%. A high-risk operation dictated by survival instinct. Except that the first quality of a leader is to hold on even at the cost of losing everything, especially if for a series of reasons the European elections have become the battle of her life for Schlein. A golden rule, which is even more valid in a phase like the current one which is lacking in charismatic leaders. It is precisely the battles that baptize leaders. So the idea wasn’t even wrong, but the secretary, as you do when you gamble the entire stake, should have done the math carefully before daring. She should have foreseen the reaction of the historical leaders, of the currents and of the allies and adversaries. And maybe don’t exclude betrayals among the possible variants. We are at the a, b, c of politics. If you’re not sure, don’t gamble, don’t bet. This is, to use a classic expression in the communist vocabulary, adventurism. But even more important is the imperative that if you do it, you don’t give up. If the die is cast, you won’t go back, especially if you have evoked with the proposal of the name in the symbol a clear break with the traditions, principles and history of a party that has always rejected personalization.

Now it will be really difficult for Schlein to pick up the pieces of an attempt that ultimately proved improvident. In fact, she had proposed herself as leader and she found herself a “halved” secretary. Even the result of the European elections will have less significance in relation to its destiny: if the Democratic Party reaches 20%, its internal adversaries or its false allies will at this point always be able to say that the success is due to the fact that the secretary has given up on running in all the constituencies and did not put his name in the party symbol as he would have liked; if that threshold is not reached she will inexorably be indicated as the scapegoat for the defeat. And then how can a halved leader, who was prevented by the party from putting his name in the symbol, become Meloni’s antagonist? How will the leadership of the wide field be played out with Conte? Now the omelette is done and perhaps we are already “after Schlein” without anyone having noticed.
