The Municipality of Misiliscemi organizes “Women’s Space”meeting with Daniela Baldassarra, Wednesday 24 April at 6pm, at Villa Immacolatella, in Pietretagliate. An opportunity to meet and exchange, an opportunity to find out and discuss the most underestimated issues relating to the female universe: economic independence, the weight of other people’s judgment, taking care of one’s appearance, the lack of solidarity between women, social prejudices. Daniela Baldassarra writer and comic monologist, always involved in the front line of social issues, in dialogue with the journalist Jana Cardinale, in the first part of the meeting she will guide the public on a detailed thematic journey through history, psychology and popular beliefs, enriching everything afterwards with an ironic and provocative reading on the theme of motherhood. With a view to lightness and conviviality, each participant, if they wish, will be able to bring their favorite wine to share it with others in a sort of final Agora in which everyone will be able to express their opinion and/or tell their experience. “The comedy – says Daniela Baldassarra – it is the most serious form of communication, because it breaks down prejudices and taboos. And loving female freedom of expression means loving life.”

With a “militancy” uninterrupted on the stage, on stages and squares, in schools, and ultimately in the obligatory audience of the social world, Daniela Baldassarra, from Altamura in Puglia, addresses important themes in her work: civil rights and human rights, respect for all diversity and attention towards the female universe; solidarity, listening, suspension of judgment. All with irony and empathy, qualities that have allowed her to establish herself in her profession to the point of being considered by critics the heir of Franca Rame. Already winner of National Award named after Andrea Camilleriin the literary section of the initiative “Artists for Peppino Impastato” and of Award dedicated to Pier Paolo Pasoliniwith a touching work on the controversial topic of post-rape pregnancy, Daniela Baldassarra is also the author of the theatrical text “Dante is connected”, a literary excursus on gender differences.
“We are happy with this initiative – says councilor Barbara Mineo – in which we invite everyone to participate, due to the importance of the issues addressed but above all for the new and original methods that put humor and irony at the centre, without taking away intensity from the sharing we propose”.
