Lucchese boxing, Porcu d’oro for the tricolors Schoolboy and Junior

The Italian championships in the Schoolboy and Junior categories they ended leaving a bittersweet taste in the mouth for the Lucca boxingwith only one gold medal, won by Matteo Porcudespite all three boxers competing, all already with different experiences in retreat with the national team, had reached the finals of their respective categories.

The Lucca team left on Wednesday afternoon (17 April) towards Chianciano Terme, where, on Thursday morning, the draws and weigh-ins. In the afternoon of the same day, the quarter-finals were played, ending with a victory for the local athletes. David Lorandi (Junior 48kg) thus clearly imposed himself on Arnaldo Di Fabio (Acc. Pugilistica David Tobini), as well as Matteo Porcu (Schoolboy 54kg), who triumphed over Francesco Cianciolo (Acc. Sport da Combattimento Caltagirone), while Raul Fortunato (Schoolboy 60kg) won a deserved victory against Antonino Mogavero (Pugilistica Salernitana).

After observing a day’s break, the action resumed for the semi-finals on Saturday 20 April, which once again saw a total victory for the boxers from Lucca. Lorandi in fact achieved a clear victory against Pietro Cutillo (Gs Fiamme Azzurre) and Porcu and Fortunato also put forward great performances in the matches with Davide La Monica (Boxe Albignasego) and Massimo Medani (Boxe Team Ruzze) respectively.

Matteo Porcu wins and fully convinces also in the match with Valentino Risoluti (Ladispoli Boxing). The Lucca native in fact conducted the final with intelligence and coolness, constantly attacking his opponent, but without exposing himself to excessive dangers thanks to an excellent technical approach.

The resulting gold medal was therefore the definitive demonstration of this boy’s great potential.
