It’s Spring Cleaning Day: more than 4 thousand people take care of the city

From nine this morning onwards four thousand volunteers are committed to participating in the 2024 edition of Spring cleaning in Monzathe usual event, now in its ninth edition, dedicated to the care of the city.

Entire families, groups, schools, associations, friends but also municipal employees, ecological guards, Civil Protection volunteers have been working since the early morning of today on the 57 construction sites scattered throughout the municipal territory, in addition to 73 in schools for a total of 130 interventions in progress.

Even as mayor, Paolo Pilotto has been busy since 9 am on a tour that will cross many of the ongoing construction sites. Pilotto immediately visited the “Centro” nursery school and subsequently the “De Amicis” elementary school:

The participating schools

We would like to remind you that 11 nurseries, three of which are private and eight municipal, are participating in the initiative, as well as 14 nursery schools including the municipal Pianeta Azzurro, 8 private and 5 state. 19 primary schools, 9 lower secondary schools, all 9 upper secondary schools, 5 socio-educational animation centers and the P. Borsa professional training centre.

Again with regards to school construction sites, 60 planting interventions are planned with the planting of over 3000 plants; 49 painting interventions, 37 waste disposal and 10 mural creations and/or graffiti removal.

The municipal employees involved in Don Milani

As mentioned, there are numerous municipal employees committed, together with volunteers, to ecological guardsat the Civil protection and to the signatories of the “Collaboration Pacts” and to young people in the civil service.

And the painting site of the gate in the Don Milani school is entrusted to municipal leaders including the Commander of the local police of MonzaGiovanni Dongiovanni.

Construction sites in the 10 neighborhoods

Among the places affected by the Spring cleaning are also cycle paths of the Villoresi Canal, of via Bergamo, of via Ghilini; the gardens and the green areas of the station, of the NEI, of via Visconti, of via Poliziano and the royal groves.

Viale Cesare Battisti, the walkway along the Lambro, via Romagna, viale Lombardia, the underpass of viale Libertà, Corso Milano were also at the center of cleaning and cigarette butt removal operations. Planting of flowers and beautification of flowerbeds are planned in via Monti e Tognetti, at the Forti e Liberi sports center, at the car park in via D’Annunzio and in the green areas of via Fiume and via Solone/Boezio.

Also busy this morning in the city center were the bee workers of Monza, who focused on cleaning the flower beds in Via Italia and Largo Mazzini:

There was also great enthusiasm on the part of the volunteers of the Via della Felicità group who were busy this morning on the construction site of the Monza station

Sports clubs on the front line

There was also great participation from the city’s sports clubs. This year they are well 10 Associations busy in the city: UISP at the Sabin School; Aso S. Rocco at Pertini; Astro Roller Skating at the Tacoli School; Monza Judo School at Citterio and Atletica Monza are working to embellish the changing rooms of the sports field of the Hensemberger, Frisi and Moses Bianchi schools.
GES Monza is busy at the Ambrosini Sports Center; ASD la Dominante at the La Dominante Sports Center; ASD Tremolada at the Bocciodromo in via Rosmini and ASD Nuova Artistica Monza at the car park between via Silva and via Puglia; ASD Forti e Liberi will be at work at their headquarters in viale Cesare Battisti.

New murals

In addition to the artistic activities, work is underway on the creation of three murals inside: one in the green area of ​​via Rota Grassi, one in the underpass of via Bergamo and one dedicated to Enzo Ferrari at the IIS Istituto Enzo Ferrari in via Monte Grappa.

Even asylum seekers engaged in Spring Cleaning

There are also 30 young asylum seekerscoming from reception center in via Monte Oliveto, engaged in one of the “Spring Cleaning” construction sites: the migrants – accompanied by the educators of the Cooperative in charge of reception by the MB Prefecture – are engaged, together with some inhabitants of the neighbourhood, in cleaning activities in via Calatafimi, corner via Marsala. Mayor Paolo Pilotto, during his tour, did not fail to make a stop to greet and thank the group of young people.
