A loudspeaker collapses during physical education class in the school gym. The episode in recent days in the Rodari primary school in Seregno: fortunately no children or teachers present at the time of the collapse were injured.
A loudspeaker collapses in the gym
The collapse of a speaker fixed to the wall of the gymnasium of the Rodari primary school in via Pacini could have serious consequences. Suddenly the fixing to the wall, about two and a half meters high, gave way and the speaker fell to the ground together with the heavy protective grille. After the bang, alarm was raised among those present, but no one was injured.
The intervention of the Municipality staff
Staff from the Municipality’s Public Works office rushed to the scene to make the gym safe and secure another damaged metal grate. The areas underneath the loudspeakers were closed off as a precaution, while the central part of the gym remained accessible for regular sporting activities. The four loudspeakers are located in the corners of the sports facility, which is also used by other associations outside of school hours.
The principal: “An unpredictable event”
“It was a sudden collapse and previously there had been no signs of any problems – explained the head teacher, Fiorella Mancuso, who immediately sent a communication to the parents – The Municipality intervened immediately and could not have done so before because there had never been any warning of danger: neither from the school staff, nor from the other associations that use the gym after the school hours and not even by parents. It was an unpredictable event, which cannot be attributed to anyone’s responsibility.”
