Monfalcone is dressed in colors and scents with the great festival dedicated to spring and the world of flowers and plants: from 24 to 28 April 2024 the city center is transformed into a flower garden with “Monfalcone in fiore”, the event organized by the Municipality in collaboration with Flash Srl and AssofiorItalia, with which the city is dressed in flowers and colours. Piazza della Repubblica, Piazza Unità, Via Battisti and Piazza Cavour will be colored with the many stands offering flowers, plants and objects for the beautification and care of gardens and balconies.
Also in this edition there are many new features of the market exhibition dedicated to the horticultural sector, presented today, Friday 19 April, in the Monfalcone municipal council room in the presence of the Councilor for Culture, Events, Commerce and Territorial Marketing, Luca Fasan, and the Councilor for Environmental Sustainability, Sabina Cauci, who together with the president of AssofiorItalia, Alessandro Muzina, offered some previews of the initiative.
Fruit trees and plants – green and flowering – for the vegetable garden and to furnish the house and garden, balcony or terrace, organic farming products and special fertilizers; but also bamboo fiber scarves and vases and ornaments for the garden; the flowers – seasonal symbol par excellence -, but also everything that is spring will be the absolute protagonists of the long-awaited event which coincides with the blossoming of the flowering season and will transform once again, for five whole days, the center into a large, splendid flowered garden.
“An important event, which accompanies us in the Monfalcone spring, which has already taken on the colors of the many flowers in the flowerbeds scattered throughout the city” notes councilor Fasan.
“Monfalcone in Fiore is a transversal event, which everyone likes and which also embraces the themes of culture and environmental protection. For this edition there will be 5 more exhibitors than in previous years and there are even more collateral initiatives organized to make our city, its history and the many cultural opportunities it offers more and more known and to create a further opportunity for commercial activities to increase revenue.
We have also confirmed consolidated activities, thanks also to the collaboration with Ascom, Vivacentro and the associations that, together with us, are committed to helping create an event that grows more and more every year.”
17 exhibitors, coming from different Italian regions, will give life to the event which also in this edition confirms itself as an event awaited and appreciated by citizens, but also by the numerous visitors and tourists and gardening enthusiasts, who are attracted to the city every year by the initiative .
Succulent plants, fruit trees, aromatic plants and many other innovations in the sector can be admired during the days of the event, open from 9.00 to 20.00, in a choreographic setting of flowerbeds and gardens which from Wednesday to Sunday will be a further opportunity for the city of valorisation and tourist attraction, also encouraging the activity of the nearby shops and businesses in the area.
The inauguration of the event will be held on Wednesday 24 April 2024 in Piazza della Repubblica in Monfalcone, at 5.00 pm in the presence of the city authorities.
This year too it will be the contest of flowered shop windows which – in collaboration with AssofiorItalia – will involve shopkeepers, invited to give color to their shop windows by setting them up on a theme to participate in the competition that will designate the most beautiful shop window.
Not only that: the competition is also dedicated to the most beautiful decorations of balconies, windows and gardens. Participation is free and open to anyone who wants to send an image of their flowered balcony, terrace or home window to the email address [email protected].
The shots will be evaluated by a commission of horticultural experts, who will decide the winners and award them on Saturday 27 April at 12.00. Up for grabs are plants and flowers offered by AssofiorItalia exhibitors.
After the great success of the last edition, the Camminata col Fiore also returns, a non-competitive walk in collaboration with the Solidarietà è Vita Odv Association and with the participation of the Italian Red Cross, scheduled for Wednesday 24 April starting at 3.00 pm from Piazza della Repubblica: a route of approximately 4 kilometers, suitable for everyone, which will accompany participants in discovering the natural beauty of Monfalcone through the karst paths of Monfalconese following a circular route that will wind along the Great War Theme Park, passing through the Joffre trench , from the virgin cave which will be visited on the occasion with return from the fortress (symbol of the city) to end again in the square. As part of the initiative, funds will be raised to be used for the creation of the “Pink Room” inside the San Polo Hospital to accommodate women victims of violence.
On Thursday 25 April, in the splendid setting of Piazza della Repubblica, a further initiative linked to the tradition and history of these lands will take place: it is “Samarc dei Bòcui”, the re-enactment of the ancient and mysterious rite of the Valentine’s Day.
Promoted by the Gruppo Incontri Bisiachi Association with the patronage of the Municipality of Monfalcone, SaMarc de bocui (San Marco dei Boccioli) is the celebration of “bisiachi in love”, born from the custom of giving a red rose to the woman of the heart during the anniversary of April 25th, the feast of San Marco, which again this year offers – from 10.30am to 1.00pm – the gift of a red rose to every woman who is approaching the “Gloriet de le rose”.
Finally, on Friday 26 April at 10.00 a walk will start from Piazza della Repubblica through the streets of the center with the municipal gardeners: the flowers of our flowerbeds with the following route: starting from Piazza della Repubblica, in front of the Municipal Palace, Piazza Unità, Corso del Popolo, Piazzetta Montes, Piazza Falcone e Borsellino, viale San Marco, Giardino della Rimembranza, Giardino Benessere 1 and Verzegnassi, Canale De Dottori, Rotonda dell’Anconetta and via Duca d’Aosta. Return to Piazza della Repubblica.
The awards ceremony for the Environment Award and the Balcony in Bloom competition will be held on Saturday 27 April in Piazza della Repubblica under the loggia of the Municipal Palace or, in case of rest, in the atrium of the Municipal Palace. The Environment Award will be awarded at 11.30 by the Department of Environmental Sustainability and the Balcony in Bloom awards ceremony will follow at 12.00.
During the days of Monfalcone in Fiore, thanks to the collaboration with the AssofiorItalia association – which brings together nurserymen from all Italian regions – numerous experts in the sector will be available to the public to offer advice and information on succulents, fruit plants and Mediterranean plants , to satisfy all your curiosities about garden care and nature protection.
Furthermore, the DinAmici association, together with the Scout group of Monfalcone and the Gati de Monfalcon association will be present throughout the event with two stands in Piazza della Repubblica to present themselves and to raise funds for their activities.
