An eighteen-year-old motorcyclist lost control, hitting a car and suffering serious injuries, while officers and rescuers intervened promptly

Last night in Castel San Pietro a young eighteen-year-old Swiss man, originally from Morbio Superiore, was involved in a tragic accident. As he headed towards Castel San Pietro, his run was abruptly interrupted. According to what was reported by the cantonal police, the young man lost control of the motorbike during one of the curves after the Castello bridge, probably due to a widening of the trajectory, hitting the guardrail on the left. The accident was violent, with the boy ending up on the ground and subsequently hitting a passing car and the corner of a garage. At the moment, the exact causes of the accident are still under investigation.

The officers of the Cantonal Police and the City of Mendrisio Police promptly responded to the accident, supported by the rescuers of the Mendrisiotto Auto Ambulance Service (SAM). After administering first aid at the scene of the accident, the young eighteen-year-old was transported by ambulance to the hospital. Initial medical evaluations revealed the severity of his injuries.
