Women of Oil and City of Oil, together, for the first time, to strengthen the tourist offer linked to extra virgin olive oil, enhance its production and territories of origin.

The national agreement, the first time in Italy, will be signed on April 20th in Ilbono.

Sardinia, with 44 member bodies of Città dell’Olio, is the most represented region.

The agreement aims to promote the culture of oil, conscious consumption, how to enhance the environment and internal areas and encourage the development of oil tourism. It envisages co-branding actions to be carried out in municipalities, production and processing companies, creating communication synergies and aiming at the creation of an oil tourism model that can then be replicated for the national and international market.

Initiatives aimed at valorising the territories of origin of Italian extra virgin olive oil (City of Oil) will be implemented through specific already existing initiatives such as “Walk among the olive trees”, “Snack in the olive grove”, the national tourism competition oil, but also conferences, seminars, workshops, promotion of community, national and regional projects, training and cultural programs for the valorisation of small villages by promoting extra virgin olive oil and other typical local products.

“It is important to relaunch and push on the value of this food which is not only good and good for you, but is a fundamental product for the beauty of our territory”, said the national representative of the Women of Oil Gabriella Stansfield, who will be present on the 20th in Ilbono together with the delegate for Sardinia Giulia Mura, the national president of Città dell’Olio, Michele Sonnessa, the deputy Giovanni Antonio Sechi, the general director Antonio Balenzano and the regional coordinator of Sardinia Maura Boi.

Donne dell’Olio, founded in 2000, brings together over 70 entrepreneurs, producers, scientists, communication experts, chefs, operators in the tourism sector, and other professional figures.
