Everything is ready for the maxi civil protection exercise “Ponziano” which will simulate an earthquake this morning (20 April) in the area around Piazza d’Armi. An activity that will involve hundreds of people, including high school students in the area who will be evacuated, and which will be possible to follow via live streaming.
LThe exercise will be held starting from 8.00 am (seismic swarm simulation and activation of the COC), and then continue at 9.30 am with the simulation of the 4.57 magnitude earthquake in the Piazza d’Armi area. From 9.30 to 13.00 the activation of the rescue machine, the evacuation of high school students towards the “Don Guerrino Rota” Sports Hall, the setting up of the Advanced Medical Post inside the Palatenda, the rescue of the injured with simulation of health treatment and possible evacuation to hospitals, the search for missing people inside school buildings, the setting up of a covered and uncovered reception area at the “Don Guerrino Rota” Sports Hall and the athletics track, inspections for verification the usability of public, private and religious buildings.
Give her 3pm at 18 instead there will be the evacuation of people with reduced mobility from some residential buildings in the Piazza d’Armi area, the safety of works of art from a former church in the Colle San Tommaso area.
The exercise, as a fundamental tool for prevention and verification of emergency plans, is more essential than ever in an area such as Spoleto, subject as is known to the risk of seismic events, because it allows the rescue machine to be tested as a whole, with the aim of reducing and managing any critical situation in the best possible way.
