FAENZA (Ravenna)
The Bailey bridge was inaugurated yesterday which connects the two parts of the center of Faenza, which have remained unreachable by vehicular traffic since the flood of May 16th. The structure, a Panel bridge type, 78 meters long, with a single span, saw the ribbon cutting in the presence of the reconstruction commissioner Francesco Paolo Figliuolo and the vice-president of Emilia Romagna Irene Priolo. “Today there is again a vehicular connection between the historic center of Faenza and the Borgo district – explained Figliuolo –, while waiting to rebuild the Ponte delle Grazie damaged by the flood, on which traffic has also restarted”. The commissioner highlighted how the mechanism for providing compensation to flood victims is working at full speed: “I have already signed the first disbursements for reimbursements to private individuals affected by floods. We have so far reimbursed 50% of what was recognised; with the new ordinance we will reach 100% , and we will also eliminate the limitations on free construction. There are people who, after nine months from the establishment of the commissioner structure, now have a bank transfer in their hands. I can’t say whether there have been refunds in times similar to these.”
Fratelli d’Italia deputy Alice Buonguerrieri also spoke on the topic: “Once the emergency was over we concentrated on public reconstruction; subsequently we focused on private reconstruction, overcoming the technical difficulties of the Sfinge regional platform, giving assistance to citizens in filling out applications, simplifying bureaucratic procedures. Today, nine months after the appointment of the commissioner, the compensation for private individuals is a reality”.
