price, dimensions and technical data sheet

Alfa Romeo returns to the small sector, this time not with a city car like the Mito but with a B-SUV from a city that is causing a lot of discussion. We are talking about the Mil… Junior. Jokes aside, the car was announced at the end of 2023 as the Milano but then, after vitriolic comments from some government officials, who cried scandal since the car is produced in Poland, the Biscione leaders have preferred to put an end to the controversy by dusting off another name dear to the brand: Junior.

So let it be Alfa Romeo Junior. Complete with a social campaign that plays on the issue, as demonstrated by some maps shown on the navigator which show the name Junior next to the city of Milan. But let’s go further.

Here she is data sheet from the Alfa Romeo Junior:

Alfa Romeo Junior: dimensions

Long 4.17 meters (35 centimeters less than the Tonale), 1.84 meters wide, 1.51 meters high, the Alfa Romeo Junior plays a key role in the company’s strategy. It enters the market with the dual task of convincing both those who wanted to purchase the heir to the MiTo and those who, needing a slightly more versatile car, were thinking of something similar to the Giulietta.

The Junior was born on CMP platform on which many of the Stellantis group’s small and medium-sized cars are built. From the Jeep Avenger to the Fiat 600 and the Lancia Ypsilon, just to name a few models belonging to the former FCA branch of the European automotive giant.

The car has enough space for all occupants: the centimeters inside the passenger compartment are in line with many competitors of the same size. Furthermore, the Alfa Romeo Junior does not skimp on the boot either: the compartment, in fact, has a capacity of 400 litres.

Alfa Romeo Junior: exteriors

Before the discussion focused on the name, the Alfa Romeo Junior had already sparked a fervent debate due to its unusual look. In fact, the car introduces numerous styling elements new to the Biscione. From the frameless shield to the front badge placed on the bonnet, passing through the new headlights (both front and rear), with the latter appearing to be drowned in a black element that runs under the rear window and which looks like a spoiler.

In the profile view, however, there are a series of elements that underline belonging to the brand. The circles with a design that is a reinterpretation in a modern key of those called “telephone”, or the rear door handle embedded in the D pillar (as happened on the 156 designed by Walter de Silva).

Alfa Romeo Junior: interior

The base of the Alfa Romeo Junior, as mentioned, is shared with numerous other Stellantis models. But coming on board the personality of the brands it’s obvious to say the least. The passenger compartment is dominated by dark tones, which underline the sporting vocation, enhanced by the contrasting stitching, naturally red.

The aluminum pedals, the three-spoke steering wheel with chrome inserts, the digital instrumentation which however maintains the classic binocular shape are all elements that make you feel like you are on board an Alfa Romeo. Then, there is the central screen dedicated to infotainment system which is driver oriented, to offer greater driving involvement for the driver.

Alfa Romeo Junior: engines

Only two engines will make their debut. You can choose the Junior Hybrid which houses a 3-cylinder 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine which delivers a power of 136 CV. It is combined with an electric unit located inside the gearbox (a six-speed dual clutch) which provides 29 HP. The car reaches a top speed of 206 km/h and goes from 0 to 100 in 8”9.

Alongside the hybrid version, the Alfa Romeo Junior also comes in a fully electric version. This is an absolute novelty for the brand (leaving aside the latest 33 Stradale, a supercar truly for a few). It has an electric motor at the front 156 CV powered by a 54 kWh battery. The car reaches a top speed of 150 km/h and goes from 0 to 100 in 9 seconds.

Alfa Romeo Junior: consumption

The hybrid version of the Alfa Romeo Junior declares a consumption on the mix of 19.2 km/l. This according to WLTP approval standards. The result is the result of the fact that the company guarantees that the Junior, on city routes, is able to travel in fully electric mode for at least 50% of the time.

Instead, the “pure” electric one declares an autonomy of 408 km (always according to the WLTP cycle). Not bad, considering that in direct current the car receives energy even at 100 kW of power and can therefore go from 10% to 80% in less than half an hour.

Alfa Romeo Junior: fittings

The Alfa Romeo Junior is available at launch in only one trim level:

Special: 18-inch alloy wheels, matt black body kit with Brera red details, LED headlights, electric tailgate, electric and electrically folding external mirrors, ambient interior lighting, digital instrumentation, 10″25 touchscreen.

Alfa Romeo Junior: why buy it

  • Performance: In the future the Alfa Romeo Junior will also be offered in a high-performance Veloce version: electric and 240 HP with mechanical self-locking differential.
