Jack Savoretti is back with a new single. With him, for the first time, too Natalie Imbruglia.
The song is titled Last words: it is the first single in Italian for both of them, a way to bond even more with their country of origin (she from Sicily, he from Liguria). The two singers were in Rome to present the song and sing it live for the first time Long live Rai 2!. The song anticipates the new album of the British singer Miss Italyout next May 17th.
On the show of Fiorello, as always, there was no shortage of jokes and funny moments, such as the moment in which Natalie Imbruglia, joking with the host and with Savoretti, asked: “What is dick?”, not knowing the meaning of the Sicilian dialect word. Look below.
Below, however, you can listen Last Wordsfollowed by text of the song, his translation and the meaning with the words of the two artists.
Natalie Imbruglia with Jack Savoretti for “Last Words”: the song
Last Words, Jack Savoretti, Natalie Imbruglia: text
The last words
Where did you go?
Did you find love?
The last wordsIf they ask you how you are
What will you answer?
Now that you’re no longer, now that you’re no longer
Now that’s late nowFrom tomorrow it will be there
(I miss your kisses in the rain)
Only people who don’t know
(I wanna see your face again)
That you were happinessWhere did you go? Did you find love?
The laughing, the living that keeps us breathing
So sweet to think that nothing’s forever
I keep trying to remember your last wordsAnd if ever they ask me why
You’re not here for sunriseAnd only people who don’t know
(I miss your kisses in the rain)
That without happiness
(I wanna see your face again)You had to stay, find love
Live, laugh, breathe
Sweet to think that it’s just pain
Those last words sound like they hurtThe last words
Oh, the last words
The last wordsLaugh, live, breathe
I can’t remember your last wordsWhere did you go? Did you find love?
The laughing, the living that keeps us breathing
So sweet to think that nothing’s forever
I keep trying to remember your last words
Last Words, Jack Savoretti, Natalie Imbruglia: translation
The last words
Where did you go?
Have you found love?
The last wordsIf they ask you how you are
What will you answer?
Now that you’re no longer, now that you’re no longer
Now that’s late nowFrom tomorrow it will be there
(I miss your kisses in the rain)
Only people who don’t know
(I want to see your face again)
That you were happinessWhere did you go? Have you found love?
It brings it back, the life that keeps us breathing
So sweet to think that nothing is forever
I keep trying to remember your last wordsAnd even if they asked me why
You won’t be here by dawnAnd only people who don’t know
(I miss your kisses in the rain)
That without happiness
(I want to see your face again)You had to stay, find love
Live, laugh, breathe
Sweet to think that it’s just pain
Those last words sound like they hurtThe last words
Oh, the last words
The last wordsLaugh, live, breathe
I can’t remember your last wordsWhere did you go? Have you found love?
It brings it back, the life that keeps us breathing
So sweet to think that nothing is forever
I keep trying to remember your last words
Last Words, Jack Savoretti, Natalie Imbruglia: meaning
The meaning Of Last words the two singers explained it directly to Long live Rai 2!:
“It’s about the fact that the last words, of a relationship or of a life, are the hardest to remember, ironically. With this topic here we wanted the experience: it’s the first time I’ve written in Italian and it’s the first time Natalie sings in Italian. It’s the combination of these two worlds.” – Jack Savoretti a Long live Rai 2!
“I’ve wanted to sing in Italian for a long time, I didn’t know it would be in this single. It’s a beautiful song that makes me feel very connected to my Italian origins.” – Natalie Imbruglia a Long live Rai 2!
