The Olympic torch will cross the Mediterranean Sea from Greece to reach the port of Marseille, the multi-ethnic city open to cultures and welcoming migrants. The Olympic fire will take 100 days before arriving in Paris, where the games will begin.

The Olympic fire comes at a time of great crisis for Europe. The wars on the borders of the old continent and in the world bring fear and concern for possible attacks and for lone wolves that are difficult to control by avoiding attacks. Sport is a culture of peace, celebration and meeting of peoples.

In the distant past, the Olympic torch stopped wars and faith in the gods triumphed among peoples and people believed and obeyed laws, which had the power to regulate relationships and govern democracy. The globalization of the economic, political, cultural and social system has run out of time and has lost its mind.

The world geographical map of peoples is no longer that of the 20th century, of the short century of the two world wars. Compared to conflicts, the region is naked, compared to migrants, powerless and is disarmed without humanity. We need trust, we have a great need of fire, of the light of the Olympic torch to warm the heart and illuminate the reason.
