Fire in Ravenna, sets fire to the petrol station: “I want to burn everything”

What happened on the morning of Tuesday 16 April could have been a tragedy with dramatic consequences Ravenna. A man, shortly before 11am, tried to set fire to the petrol pump of the petrol station in Piazza Caduti sul Lavoro, at the beginning of Via Trieste. According to initial information, he spread the fuel on the ground from the dispenser, setting it on fire, shouting «Do fire at all. I set everything on fire.”

The boy of foreign nationality first asked the employee to move, then took the “pistol” of the petrol pump and sprayed the area with flammable liquid. Immediately afterwards he used a lighter that he was holding in his hand to set the entire area on fire. Fortunately there were no injuries: the fire it was quickly tamed thanks to surgery
of those present and the firefighters. The scene was entirely captured by cameras of video surveillance placed in front of the pumps on fire and by some witnesses.

Arrested by the police

The boy was then blocked by the police, who intervened on site together with the firefighters. Firefighters, carabinieri, state police and local police from Ravenna and 118 rushed to the scene. The area was made safe.
