A painful sentence, but full of faith and love for the man with whom she lived a good part of her life. A man who loved his work, his home and was always present in the parish in his free time.

Mayor Martino Schiavon, who was in Bargi both Wednesday and yesterday, was also shocked: «When I heard the phone call that Sabrina made to her daughters, I couldn’t hold back the tears. I hugged her and told her that the doors of the city hall will always be open for her, her daughters and her loved ones. It was a heartbreaking moment, which I hoped I wouldn’t have to experience.” Then the mayor added: «We don’t know when yet, but the day of the funeral will be citizen mourning. It is the least we can do to remember Hadrian, his sacrifice, his absurd death. In the past I had hardly felt a sense of closeness towards a family in difficulty in the village. It is the strong signal that Adriano left to the entire community of Ponte San Nicolò: love, availability, sense of duty and an innate joy. On behalf of my municipal administration I brought Sabrina my deepest condolences.” In a few minutes the news of the discovery of Scandellari’s body spread through the town of Ponte San Nicolò. With composure who was in church praying, she continued to do so.

When his wife returns to Ponte San Nicolò with Adriano’s brothers – including Don Leonardo Scandellari, parish priest of the church of San Prosdocimo in Padua – she will be constantly followed to try to overcome such a devastating moment and concentrate her strength on her young daughters. In this context of pain, Don Daniele Cognolato will also be constantly at the side of Adriano’s family while waiting to organize the funeral.
