What will be the plot of the second season of The Three-Body Problem? After trying to explain what the Sophons are in The 3-Body Problem, let’s try to understand how the story of the series will evolve Netflix created by David Benioff and DB Weiss in the next episodes.
From what we know, the Netflix and Benioff & Weiss program is to adapt Liu Cixin’s literary trilogy into three different seasonswith the third book which by the two showrunners’ own admission could expand into a ‘double season’, for a total of 4 Netflix seasons (unlike the Chinese TV series The Three-Body Problem, which took 30 episodes to tell the entire book saga).
Based on the evolution of Liu Cixin’s story we know that, in the second volume, entitled The matter of the cosmos, Earth begins to organize its desperate resistance in view of the arrival of the Trisolarian aliens, 400 years away. As we saw in the finale of the first season of Netflix, which already draws some elements from this second novel, humanity creates the Impenetrable Ascetics Project, a bold program that guarantees enormous resources and entrusts extraordinary powers to four people to find an effective defensive strategy and develop it exclusively in their heads: this is because sophones cannot penetrate the human mind. The Trisolarians will react to this ploy creating the figure of the Incursorsthat is, people in possession of great deductive abilities who can somehow discover the plans of the Impenetrables and reveal them.
The stalemate that is created is made even more uncertain by the possible existence of a third alien civilizationinfinitely more powerful than Earth and the Trisolarians…
