First place and qualification for the national final at the ‘RoboCup junior 2024’. The ‘Trucebot’ team finishes in seventh place
TERAMO – Excellent result for the‘Alessandrini-Marino’ Institute of Teramo to the regional phase of the competitionsRoboCup Junior Abruzzo 2024‘, held at the headquarters of the ‘Volta’ Higher Education Institute in Pescara, among more than 200 students from all over the region. The Teramo students, with the teams ‘Satoru Robot’ And ‘Grimbot‘, in the final ranking they took 1st and 7th place respectively. Satoru was created with a Lego EV3 programmed in C++, while Trucebot was developed entirely by the students who took care of its design, planning, creation with a 3D printer and more. It uses a Raspberry Pi 4 supplied to the Institute, a camera for computer vision and the Python language. It was truly commendable work that required a lot of effort, but which has enormous potential for future editions.
The first position obtained by ‘Satoru Robot’, made up of students Simone Lallone (class 2A MAT), Matteo Costantini, Jacopo Di Carlo And Renzo Tribuna (class 3AI), will allow the ‘Alessandrini-Marino’ Institute to participate, together with 7 other schools from Abruzzo, in the national final’Robocup Junior Academy 2024‘, which will be held in Verbania from 10 to 13 April.
Great enthusiasm on the part of the head teacher Maria Letizia Fatigati: “I congratulate the students and the professors Roberto Arduini and Alfredo Centinaro who prepared them. I believe it is very important that children participate in these competitions because they enhance STEM and laboratory skills, enhanced by innovative teaching aimed at encouraging the development of flexible thinking ready for change in our students. The school – concluded the manager – will provide with its own funds the travel expenses to Verbania of the team of students and accompanying teachers for the national phase“.
