A few moments ago a new surprise update arrived on the launch of Super Mario Bros. 2the new animated film from Nintendo and Illumination, brought to us directly by Shigeru Miyamoto.
The well-known video game creator has in fact provided an update on the Nintendo of Japan account on X, which reveals the official release date of the film in Japanese cinemas.
We already knew that the sequel to the first film (which you can find on Amazon) will be released on April 3, 2026 in the United States, with a release scheduled for the generic month of April for the rest of the world.
But now, as reported by Nintendo Life, we know the precise date on which the animated feature film will be available in Japanese cinemas, namely April 26, 2026.
An update that is also and above all useful for confirm release in April 2026 worldwidebut if it follows the same trend as the first film it also means that the release on Italian territory should precede the Japanese one.
The cinemas of Japan were indeed among the last to receive the film adaptation of Super Mario Bros. and, judging by the gap between the American and Japanese dates, the exact same scenario should happen for its sequel too.
We can therefore only invite you again to mark the month of April 2026 on your virtual calendars, waiting for Nintendo to officially confirm the release date of Super Mario Bros. 2 on our territory.
Staying on the subject of news, we remind you that starting from 4.00 pm today a new Nintendo Direct will be broadcast, with many new games arriving on the current Switch consoles. Obviously, this announcement also serves to confirm that we will see in the Direct only and only new video games.
