In the past few hours the super veteran Evan Blass, better known online as Evleaks, has published new renderings of the alleged official cases of the Google Pixel 8a, the next mid-range smartphone from the Mountain View giant whose announcement is expected in a few days during the conference I /O 2024. If four out of five are basically coordinated with the colors expected for the device itself, there is a fifth variant of a nicebright orange which apparently has no counterpart among real smartphones.

As already anticipated by countless past rumors, Google intends to offer its smartphone in four colors: black, white, green and blue. The official names should be, respectively, Obsidian, Porcelain, Mint and Bay. The four coordinated cases had actually already emerged in recent days, the only new one is the orange one. So it’s natural to ask: is there a possibility that there is also a variant of this smartphone color? Although there is a precedent, the Pixel 4/4 XL (even if it tended a little more towards pink/coral), this time we are rather skeptical: even in the official renderings Google uses the orange case on a black Pixel 8a (Obsidian ).

In addition to the renderings of the cases, Blass also published what appear to be screenshots of the mock-up of the product page of the official website, apparently in another language and with the automatic translation into English superimposed. Nothing striking emerges: as is easy to predict, Google’s marketing strategy focuses heavily on generative artificial intelligence and on the various ways in which it can be useful to the user, for example for taking and retouching/editing beautiful photos and videos, in transcription from audio to text and so on.
