Google Pixel Tablet he would be without a successor. Or rather, we won’t see a Pixel Tablet 2 anytime soon. Better yet: in Mountain View there is no work on substantial changes for the Pixel Tablet in view of Google I/O, where according to the logic of the annual life cycle the current model should be retired by the successor.

Colleagues tell it dealabs.comexplain that the association between the previously unreleased codenames Clementines And Kiyomi found in the beta of Android 14 QPR3 and Pixel Tablet 2 is and remains, at present, a simple one suggestion by professionals. In development, according to their sources, there would be no Pixel Tablet 2, only a different edition to be sold – finally – even in markets where the first tablet of the Pixel line never arrived, including Italy.

In short, one thing emerges from the story Google focused on closing the circle, to do things well with the first generation, before moving on to the next chapter, to a real second generation of the tablet, which at this point we could see at Google I/O in 2025, who knows. At the next event in May, in addition to the Pixel 8a, Google will return to its tablet to announce, according to colleagues, an edition with different standard equipment and a different price to be offered in a greater number of markets.

NEW EQUIPMENT AND NEW PRICE

The “new” first generation Pixel Tablet that would see the light at the next I/O it would not have the charging dock with speakers in the package which, therefore, would end up among the accessories, among the complements of the tablet to be purchased separately. Pixel Tablet would therefore be sold alone, without accessories. No changes however on storage and colors: 128 or 256 GB and Porcelain or Sage Green, exactly those proposed at launch last year.

As far as prices are concerned, however, removing the dock with speakers from the equipment would lead to a lower price, but not as much as you would expect if you consider that a dock alone costs 149 euros. Essentially the price of the Pixel Tablet will not drop by 149 euros. We remind you that the French list price of Google Pixel Tablet starts from the 679 euros needed for the 8+128 GB variant while 799 euros are needed for the 8+256 GB one. While “Pixel Tablet 1.5” would cost:

  • Pixel Tablet 128GB: 609 euros (-70 euros)
  • Pixel Tablet 256 GB: 729 euros (-70 euros).

70 euros less therefore compared to saying goodbye to a dock which, if it maintains the current price, it can be purchased for 149 euros. At launch it could be offered in a bundle with the Pixel Buds A earphones for around fifty euros more. The circumstance of a “renovated” Pixel Tablet without the dock is confirmed by another insider Arsène Lupin who, speaking of accessories, also points out that the range should be expanded with a pen and a Bluetooth keyboard which will cost around 100 euros each, Hazel or Porcelain colours.

Considering that according to rumors there is no news coming for Pixel Tablet, it is worth reviewing its technical characteristics.
