Infograms is back: the French label founded in 1983, to which we owe classics like Alone in the Dark, will come relaunched from Atariwhich aims to exploit the nostalgia effect of a brand to which many players are still very attached.

“For decades, Infogrames has built a reputation as a publisher and developer of incredible and eclectic games, and we are thrilled to bring it back into vogue“said Wade Rosen, president and CEO of Atari, in announcing the sensational return.

As the older ones among you will remember, Infogrames became Atari in 2003, after acquiring the historic brand created by Nolan Bushnell and Ted Dabney way back in 1972 as part of an operation very similar to the one we are witnessing today.

A concrete return?

Atari has not provided further details regarding the rebirth of the Infogrames label, so we do not know at the moment whether or not behind this announcement there is a desire to build (or rather, rebuild) a library of games that can refer to the golden years of the brand.

Certainly two exponents of this possible strategy could be the remake of Alone in the Dark, published exactly a month ago and received by critics in a generally positive manner, as well as Outcast: A New Beginning, also an important return.
