recaps with Gemini coming to Android

For Gmail For Android there are interesting news in the pipeline, or at least so it seems based on the latest news received. The app should indeed receive a update based onartificial intelligence to allow users to obtain summaries emails with particularly long texts.

Gmail: AI summaries on Android

More precisely, a new button named has been spotted in the Gmail app for Android “Summarize this email” hidden in the three-dot menu of email threads, but is not yet active at the moment.

Presumably, when the button can actually be used, once pressed it will cause a pop-up window to appear at the bottom of the screen with a summary of the email in a bulleted list, similar to the function already proposed for the Web version of Gmail, even if the side panel would be replaced by the pop-up.

The functionality in question would be based on Gemini AIGoogle’s LLM, which has started to become available in the web version of Gmail in some markets, primarily for users of the Gemini for Workspace suite.

Per Google’s support page, the summary feature currently only works for emails with more than two replies and is primarily intended for business use. The new button in the Android app, however, seems to be designed for use by anyone.

Note that in addition to the new button to create email summaries, the voice has also been identified “Gemini” in the menu on the top bar of the app. At the moment, it has no function and if selected it only displays a white sheet with the Gemini logo and text.
