Replica of Istanbul Formula 1 Circuit Up for Sale in Texas

Did you know that there is a more humble version (much more humble) of the famous Istanbul circuit? It is located in Texas, in a city called Amarillo, and is now for sale. Although it is a track designed for karting, its reminder of a Formula 1 motor circuit certainly makes it fascinating.

This replica of the “original” Turkish Formula 1 Grand Prix circuit, described by Bernie Ecclestone as “the best circuit in the worldthe”, presents 19 curves and a length of almost 1.6 kilometersand was built in 2012 (if you have 2.25 million euros saved up you can also buy the famous Willow Springs circuit, which is also for sale).

The karting circuit is the passion fruit of Thane Morgan, a local orthopedic surgeon and avid Formula 1 enthusiast. Initially, the track was not open to the public, but served as a private space for his children and friends to enjoy. In 2017, the track regularly hosts the Texas ProKart Challengea local competition that regularly hosts between 80 and 100 competitors.

In 2022, the circuit was sold to brothers Kyle, Brad and Joe Yuchinski, who embarked on a series of renovations to transform it into an entertainment destination suitable for events and large audiences. The improvements included the addition of 1,858 square feet of asphalt, a covered grilling area, a scoring tower, an elevated viewing platform, safety fencing, restrooms, showers and a new store with rental spaces.

The renovated Amarillo Kart Complex opened in May 2023, but eleven months later it was put up for sale again. It is unclear whether the Yuchinski brothers intend to remain in charge, outsourcing the property management. The replica of Istanbul’s Formula 1 circuit is currently listed on loopnet.com for $2 million, or about $1.5 million. 1.86 million euros.
